Last week, I held 5 town hall meetings in Anchorage, Girdwood, and Eagle River. I got a chance to hear what people are dealing with and what they care about in our city government. One of the things that is at the root of many of the complaints I heard is that people suspect that Mayor Sullivan isn’t being straight with us about the city budget. We seem to run out of money for snow removal, and then have tens of thousands of dollars to award no-bid contracts to a lucky connected few. It just doesn’t seem to make sense. More →

As many of you know, Title 21 governs Public Lands Use in Anchorage. For a long time, all proceedings under Title 21 were done in public, so that everyone would know what was being proposed, everyone would have the opportunity to comment, and if a project was going to go forward, everyone would have the opportunity to bid on the work.
